Upon arrival all directors will be required to submit a Jazz Festival form listing all students and adults traveling with the group. Each school must verify that all adults and students traveling to the festival are vaccinated or have been tested within the last 3 days, 72 hours, and verified by the Director. Priority Festival Passes will only be issued to the students and adults on this list. Currently we will not be allowing walk-up patrons to enter any of the performance venues.
The good news is the Santa Cruz Jazz Festival is back and scheduled for a slimmed down COVID safe festival on March 19th only. We will be holding a one-day festival accepting the first 32 Bands and 16 VJ Ensembles. Sorry to say we have decided to forgo our nighttime concerts and hope to provide some kind of concert during the daytime hours.
In an effort to provide a safe environment as we recover from COVID we will be limiting the size of the festival and trying to create a situation where more distancing is possible. As always, the most important part of our festival is the student education experience. Each group will receive written and recorded adjudications from 3 of our outstanding Adjudicators and a 30-minute clinic following their performance. Audiences will be limited to meet the current college safety protocol which currently is at 100% in the Crocker and the Semper, these limits may change in the future. The 5000 building will be limited to 60% capacity. We have decided not to invite combos this year and will be using the forum as our master class classroom.
